Welcome to the Turkish Public Health Association
Turkish Public Health Association (TPHA) joining efforts to strengthen the public health profession and to improve community health nationwide.
Purpose; to create ideas for promoting public health in Turkey together with relevant stake holders and institutions and to convey these ideas to relevant authorities and to make contributions for implementing them and to monitor result of them.
Mission: TPHA's mission is to contribute to improve the people's health by making efforts in every level to increase awareness in public health with health protection and formative activities, activating resources, supporting people in this field.
Vision: To exchange of human resources and documentation; to make comprehensive studies in Europe and in the World; to share Turkey's experiences in the field of public health with the world, including neighbor countries in her region and in the world. Our vision is to work, to generate and to share.
Brief History: Turkish Public Health Association was established in 1993, became a member of WFPHA in 1995 and obtained the right to use the expression "Turkish" in its name in 1997. TPHA was qualified as a benevolent Association in 1998. TPHA became a member of European Public Health Association (EUPHA) in 2004 and became member of UNESCO- Turkish National Commission of Public Health Education National Committee on 28 April 2006. TPHA with its studies and active participation has been one of the NGO's referred to within the process of Turkey's accession into European Union. Also, TPHA signed the UN Global Compact on 21 November 2006 with UN General Secretary Kofi ANNAN, thus became a member of UN Global Compact. And Founder member since 1995 and Member of the Council of Board of the National Tobacco Control and Health Committee.
TPHA is a volunteer, non-profit and an international nongovernmental organization bringing health workers throughout Turkey together for professional exchange, collaboration and action.
Its members are multidisciplinary national and regional public health societies include physicians, nurses, sanitarians, administrators, health educators, pharmacists', anthropologists, health engineers, researchers and many other persons interested in public health.
